Rapidity Space and Luleå University of Technology Join Forces to Revolutionize Lunar Exploration

Uppsala 14 February 2025 – Rapidity Space and the Robotics and AI Team (RAI) from Luleå University of Technology (LTU) are partnering to develop cutting-edge autonomous navigation software for Lunar rovers. With funding support from the Swedish National Space Agency, this collaboration brings together Rapidity Space’s engineering expertise and RAI’s academic leadership to tackle critical challenges of Lunar exploration, including communication delays, rugged terrain, and extreme environmental conditions.

The project aims to create software that enables rovers to navigate vast Lunar areas autonomously, with unparalleled precision and resilience. By leveraging advanced algorithms for multi-sensor fusion, obstacle detection, and optimized navigation, the software offers agility and adaptability, ensuring seamless integration with diverse hardware platforms.
Apart from scientific and commercial opportunities, the initiative highlights Sweden’s contributions to space innovation while inspiring future generations to engage in STEM fields.
